Asher sat alone on the beach. He had been here for a little while, now. It was getting late; the sun was setting and the moon was visible. The sky seemed to be painted. Red. Orange. Yellow. Pink. The water began to come in more. The waves would splash onto the beach, occasionally spraying Asher with some slight mist. Every now and then something would drift ashore. Mostly driftwood, but sometimes things that no one had seen before. Things that seemed to come from other places; the unknown. [ [ things like boat paddles, things from ship wrecks, etc. ] ] Asher stretched his legs out in front of himself so that the water would touch his feet. The smell of a crackling, blazing fire filled the air. There was always at least one fire burning at this time. The sky was a beautiful pink // red color. You know the saying; Red sky in morning, fisherman's warning, red sky at night, fisherman's delight. Asher remained on the beach. He was kind of bored now; maybe he join the others at the fire. No. He was going to stay put, he catch the fire tomorrow night.

A small figure sat at the warm fire, hazel eyes looking out at the color of the sky. "Red..." Her thoughts turned to her father, maybe still out finishing his catch. A soft wind blew through her hair and making the flames dance. A small bead of sweat formed at her temple, boy was it hot. Her gaze followed along the shoreline, spotting a lone shadow. She looked at her sister who was engaged in a conversation with another boy her age. She rolled her eyes as she stood up and went to the boy. Kalea figured that no one would miss her, so why not go?
"Hello, mind if I join you?" she asked once she got close enough for the boy to hear. He appeared to be around her age and had that bored expression she sometimes had. "You looked a bit lonely from where I was at." Kalea added.

Asher pulled his feet back in and crossed his legs. The sand beneath him was cool and soft. The sand that was now damp was more rough. Some sand stuck to the bottom of Asher's bare and wet foot. He hated that feeling and wiped the sand off. He turned his head ti the sound of a voice. There was a girl there. Good looking, around his age, and she seemed to appear out of no where. "Oh." Said Asher. "Not at all." Asher had seen her around before. What was her name? Katie? Something like that. He hadn;t really speak to her before this besides the occasional hey when walking past each other.

When he turned towards her, she saw a more clear view of him. He was cute and seemed to be nice. "Thanks," she said, sitting down on the wet sand that clung to the palm of her hands and the bottom of her feet. She took a better look at him. He seemed familiar to her, but couldn't remember his name. "I'm Kalea by the way." she introduced herself, hoping he'd share his name.
Loud laughing erupted from the fire, maybe at some funny joke or two. Along with the sound of the fire and the waves crashing against rocks and the beach was the sound of the night that began to form. Birds calling, bugs buzzing, and other animals prowling. This was the time she mostly feared most, hearing stories about some who were attacked by some predator.
